Our Commitment

More Than a Business

Fresh Start Cleaning is a family-run business built on the belief that a clean, calm home is one of the most quietly powerful things a person can experience. We see what we do as a craft, and we believe a successful local business has a duty to be more than just a supplier of services.

Helping Hands is the formal expression of that belief. It operates as a single umbrella programme with five distinct initiatives, each designed to reach a different part of our community — through trusted partner organisations, community nominations, and public giving.

Every commitment we make publicly is one we have the capacity to honour, every month, without exception.

"Helping Hands is a marathon, not a one-time campaign. It is built to grow with us, and to give back at every stage of that growth."

Guiding Principles

How We Do This

Dignity first

Nobody should feel diminished by accepting help from us. Every initiative is designed so recipients can engage without shame or public exposure unless they choose otherwise.

Quietly consistent

We do not announce what we do not deliver. Every public commitment is one we have the capacity to honour, every month, without exception.

Through trusted hands

Wherever possible, we work through organisations who already hold trusted relationships with the people we want to support.

Transparent by default

We publish what we have given, what we have raised, and what it has achieved. We do not inflate, we do not embellish.

Sustainable, not heroic

The programme is sized to be deliverable indefinitely without burning out the team or compromising paid work.

The Five Tenets

Five Ways We Give Back

Each initiative has its own identity and delivery mechanism. All share the same principles, the same visual language, and the same reporting framework.

Helping Hands

Each month, we gift one free 2-hour clean to a person nominated by someone who knows them - a new mum struggling to find time, someone recovering from illness, a family carer, or simply a neighbour who has been through a hard month and could do with a fresh start.

Community Partnerships

Some of the people who would benefit most might never receive a nomination. We plan to work directly with trusted local organisations who already know the people they serve, providing cleans through referrals from the Children's Centre, Graih, and Hospice Isle of Man.

What We Don't Do

It is as important to be clear about what falls outside this programme as what falls within it.

We do not photograph or name recipients without their explicit, written consent.

We do not require recipients to provide proof of hardship or financial need.

We do not use Helping Hands as a sales channel — any follow-on offer is made gently in writing, only after the gifted clean is complete.

We do not accept self-nominations — nominations must come from someone who knows the recipient personally.

Know Someone Who Deserves a Fresh Start?

Nominations for our monthly gifted clean are open now. You can nominate a friend, neighbour, colleague — anyone going through a hard time who could use a helping hand. You cannot nominate yourself.

Transparent by Default

Each January we publish a full annual review of Helping Hands — total cleans delivered by initiative, Pay It Forward funds raised and deployed, and a summary of what we learned. All recipient data is handled in line with the Isle of Man Data Protection Act 2018 and our standard privacy policy. No recipient story is ever published without explicit written consent.
